The measure of all leaders and all brands in 2009

Obama Not hope.  Not change. Not inclusion, not transparency, not even participation.

What leaders and organizations must provide today is perceptible progress.

Progress towards improving people's lives.  Progress towards eliminating fear and bureaucracy.  Progress towards realizing their potential to do better and be better, for their colleagues, customers, communities and for our home, planet Earth.

Progress is the only cure for cynicism.  Progress invites participation.  Progress fuels change.  And progress inspires hope.

It's time to shut our mouths, get out from behind our screens, roll up our collective sleeves, and make a real difference in people's lives.

"For us, they packed up their few worldly possessions and traveled across oceans in search of a new life.  For us, they toiled in sweatshops and settled the West; endured the lash of the whip and plowed the hard earth. For us, they fought and died, in places like Concord and Gettysburg; Normandy and Khe Sahn." - Barack H. Obama, President of the United States of America, January 20, 2009

It's our turn.

Well said, Tom. Something else that people need to remember is that progress breeds more progress. Don't keep looking and waiting only for the big wins. People just need to get off the sidelines and get something - anything -done. Little victories create the energy and momentum needed to accomplish the bigger ones.

Again, great perspective in a post I can absorb, with a lesson I can apply. If you keep this up, I'll have to buy your book ~ !
