"I am a marketing genius."
Why do many people have a strong aversion to marketing and marketers? Well, there's Paris Hilton. And things like this. And things like the following, which I received unsolicited in a recent email:
Siegel+Gale Introduces Eyeopener™ Brand Decision Analyzer. Invaluable New Research Tool Helps Companies Make Real-Time Brand Decisions and Reliably Predict Results. Predicts Return on Brand Investment…Simply, Quickly, and Efficiently.
Or . . . perhaps the lack of sun has simply put me in a dark and cynical mood.

Tom,
I feel you man. Just got back from Vegas this past weekend and been trying to fight off a nasty flu I picked up there (can't even tell you the last time I was sick.)
Just think of the bright side.
The three scenarios you mentioned above, only make you, as a marketer look that much better. Its like the Ying and Yang you wrote about last week. You, Seth Godin, John Moore, and a slew of others (Ying) balance out the one-trick marketing ponies out there who give marketers a bad name (Yang).
