"Social networking is laboring under the inescapable weight of the dot-com curse: you have to find the money. No matter how cool your idea is, it's dead on arrival without an actual business plan. At least, that's the theory."
If you're curious about this phenomenon called social networking, check out this funny Daily Show clip.

Surely the way to monetarise any new internet application or innovation such as this is by advertising that goes along with it.
As with the dedicated bloggers who work 6am through to 8 or 9 at night to create content that keeps the page views ticking and the ad revenues flowing, the successful myspacer will create a huge community (of over 9000 people!) who keep on coming back to their 'space' to view content.
As always, the people with the most page views will be able to charge for advertising and make some significant cash.
There will also be others receiving checks for a penny a month thanks to their 'entrepreneurial (ad) venture'.

Thanks for the clip Tom!
As with most things humorous, there is some truth to this. The hard part is not sorting out what is true today (although that is likely to be debatable), the hard part is sorting out what will be the future!
