He is a wise Guy but my blog´s new design is better than his.

Talking more seriously, perhaps Guy´s statement has a part of truth but for many people blogs are the only way they have to express themselves and to be in touch with many people. It´s the way of the powerless (though not all bloggers are powerless). The powerful can live comfortably without ever blogging. But that´s another story.

Does that definition also apply to book authors or does the paper make the words more valuable.
This guy comes out of nowhere and has over 300 people already subscribed on bloglines. I on the other hand have been blogging for one year and have two people subscribed. I hate this Guy :)

Hi Tom
I like Guy a lot and I have read much of his work. On this point I disagree with him strongly.
I have written elsewhere about the merits of Blogging. It depends on your view of this I suspect. I would never force folks to Blog – it must be voluntary. For me it is a wonderful way to make contacts. I have made many new friends and business contacts through Blogging. I resent Guy's sweeping generalisation that we Bloggers have nothing to say. I read many Blogs AND I have plenty to do so – for me - he is wrong there too.
I respect the fact Guy is entitled to his opinion of course. Blogging may not suit everyone but it suits me.

Hi Felix. I just checked out your redesigned blog. You're right!
Hey Wayne. What's your blog? I'll subscribe.
And Trevor. I read Guy's definition as an attempt at self-deprecating humor. Nothing more.

Guys,
Re: my definition. Take it easy. It's my ode to Ambrose Bierce and The Devil's Dictionary. Nothing personal.

I think it's interesting that we get all riled up about what one person's opinion is of our passion. Would we be so quick to condemn if someone said they didn't like our day job? Heck, most people don't want to do what I do, and think it's thankless. I LOVE what I do, and I don't take it personally. Plus, having read plenty of stuff from Guy in the past, you had to know that he was throwing himself under the bus, in a tongue in cheek sort of way.
That's my $.02. Gotta love Ambrose Bierce!

Ooops sorry Tom - I fell for that one hook, line and sinker as we say over here in England - apologies to you too Guy - now I see the funny side. I must learn to change my lifelong habit of acting before thinking :-)
PS - Just to prove it ...I have promoted 'Selling the Dream' as a 'must be read' book in my talks for years!!
I loaned my own copy to someone (I can't remember who) but they never returned it to me - they obviously liked it too. Many years ago you wrote to me with some very helpful comments Guy for which I thank you again!
